This image of a skull of an unknown person is from a photo lab in New York City called FotoStyle. The image was presumably processed by the lab but never picked up by the customer, having wound up for sale at public auction. Forensic reconstruction of facial characteristics from skeletal remains has become more advanced in recent years, although it still remains controversial. Computerized two and three dimensional models have been created to provide as much accuracy as possible, although margins of error still exist. The clues to sexual identity, while clear to those knowledgeable about anatomy, remain completely obscure to the casual observer.
